It is quite evident that the Company is being put to a considerable amount of expense in re-boring cylinders which might be avoided if oil consumption could be rectified without this drastic treatment being necessary. What is really required is a postponement of the point where it is necessary to re-bore. In many cases it is only necessary to reduce the oil consumption of the car for a further 10,000 miles to reach a point where the owner may be expected to pay for the work done. We should like you to arrange with Hancock and Kingsbury to supply an engine which is in this condition, and see if by any simple means of rings we can put it back into a serviceable condition. At the present moment we have a perfectly good 3½-kitre engine which we could loan a customer while we are working on his unit.
