BY: FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re. SPORTS PHANTOM - EAC. 14. [Handwritten:] X8774 [over a crossed-out X8830, over a crossed-out X4663] ORIGINAL [Stamp] DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/19.10.27. We have placed an order for a Sports body at both Messrs Jarvis, and Barkers, and they have been working to a standard coach-work print. We now learn that the chassis which HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is building up has EAC.8. bonnet and radiator, etc, and we shall need immediate-ly a new chassis print which should be made out to include all features of interest to the coachbuilder. As we are urging these bodies for delivery in 7 to 9 weeks we would like to have 4 blue-prints of a suitable chassis print to hand over to them in say 3 or 4 days time. We would be glad if you could arrange this as we are very pushed for design work on the job. The following are the special features which should be included: (1) Correct steering, column, pedals, and side levers. (2) 'D' type subframe levers. (3) EAC. 8. bonnet, dash, and radiator. (4) Front shock absorbers of the axle control, and wing stay position. (5) Step brackets removed. (6) Frame shewn lowered 1" below standard and the correct wheel arch clearances for these modified bumps indicated. It will be understood that the rear bump from the fully loaded position is reduced by 1", that the front springs have an unaltered bump but have .500" more negative camber, and the rubber reduced by .500". (7) Double rear shock dampers. (8) R-R battery in frame, shewing the extraction of battery. (9) All body bolting details can be omitted as we shall have a special suspension. (10) The petrol tank can be indicated without a filler, gauge, or two level device, as we have to send you a sch. for this in a few days. If you could go ahead and send us prints of a partly finished drawing so that we could keep our coachbuilders moving, details not yet settled could be added as they come along. We have yet to send you the following designs: (1) | ||
