ENGINE UNIT NO. B.4. - CHASSIS 6.B.IV.

Strip Report After 16,000 Miles in France.

All parts have run 16,000 miles unless otherwise stated.

Crankcase and Bearings LOP.EB.2737.

Crankcase EB.2626 T.H., in good condition and free from cracks. EB.1855 L.H., cracked as shown in Ex.I.154.

Main Bearings in Hoyts' A.3 Material.

In very poor condition, more especially the intermediates from which the metal had broken away and cracked in many places. Photographs and measurements herewith.

Crankshaft E.d1223.

The journals, which had an extra oil hole drilled in each, opposite the existing, were lightly grooved.

The crankpins, which have run on R.R.56, A.C.S.S. and A.C.G.S. bearings, were in good condition. 2225 bearing for 1st motion shaft also in good condition.

A rather larger amount of "sludge" than usual was present in the crankpins.

Spring Drive to LOP.EB.2666 - LeC.4629-4946.

Ex B.22 Unit. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}252 mod. to dempers, i.e. lightened demper wheels.

The general condition was good, both friction surfaces being clean and polished, though the inner wheel was lightly grooved.

There was a large amount of "sludge" present, due to the fact that there were no oil drain holes.
