X3322 RR. (crossed out) S. By (crossed out) c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SFT {Mr Swift} 8/EMM.1.1.25. 40/50 H.P.CHASSIS REVERSE PINION SEIZING UP. X3322 Memos reference EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 8/H.30.12.24., and BY5/H.31.12.24. With regard to the reverse pinion seizing up on Chassis No. 53.EU - I would point out that this seizure was quite different from the usual reverse seizure. In this case the eccentric had seized in the pedestal and we suspect that this has been due to the presence of dirt either in the box itself or in the oil. It is quite true you were assured by the Works that action had been taken which we hoped would result in the elimination of this trouble, and I might point out that in this connection we have not had a reverse seize up since we instituted the new practice. In addition to that, we have not yet been in a position to fit any of the reverse shafts produced under the new operations, which I consider will still further improve the job. SFT. {Mr Swift} | ||
