----------------------------------------------------

With reference to the attached correspondence, which I am returning to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, I think the only thing to do with this matter is to supply the owner in question with a P & R.{Sir Henry Royce} Battery, and ask him to return the Exide Battery to these Works, as obviously, we should not be asking a Customer to do experimental work for us to prove or disprove any point.

Upon receipt of the battery, it should be handed over to EFC. who will check same to see that there is nothing abnormal on the face of it. EFC. would then hand the battery over to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to run on one of our cars, and the performance of the battery in regard to length of time it would run without "topping up" should then be carefully compared with a standard Exide battery, for a similar mileage.

I propose to bring the whole matter in the near future to Mr. McKinnon's attention at a conference at these Works, with the object of impressing upon the Exide Company the need for their bringing their battery into line with the P & R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Will EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} therefore kindly replace the Exide Battery on the above owner's car with a P & R.{Sir Henry Royce} and put same against an A.T.D. number, pending such time as further information is available, and on the assumption that in the near future we shall be able to give this matter attention from a design point of view.
