We send you herewith LeC. 2500. shewing the cross web piston for use in connection with the latest 20HP. developments.

Owing to the change in the piston pin we call for a reduction in the length of the little end of the con. rod. so as to leave more bearing surface for the piston pin in the piston.

With regard to the locking rings for holding in the piston pin we fear those shewn with two grooves may not get put in in the position intended, and we have therefore arranged LeC. 2500. with one groove only, and a turned in end on the spring ring for extracting purposes. We propose to take this point up with R.{Sir Henry Royce}, and shall be glad if you would return two blueprints of this drawing to us instead of the usual one.

Referring to BY4/G151227., in connection with die-casting pistons, the construction we had visualised for the die was that each section of the metal to be withdrawn should be brought independently right outside of the piston, the sections being located and fastened together entirely outside, as shewn roughly in the sketch. If this is done there is some chance of withdrawing the outer sections after the centre one has been removed. We should like to know if this is considered a possible way of treating the die as it appears to be the only way in which we could die-cast these cross web pistons.
