Lead Bronze Bearings.

Replying to Sr/VA.1/ET.25.3.36.

We should not recommend that you fit any more lead bronze bearings. Sooner or later higher oil consumption is certain to be encountered, owing to the very large clearances which these bearings necessitate. The Hall's metal which has now been standardised is more reliable and runs at white metal clearances on the big ends.

We suggest that you apply to the Works for a set of Hall's metal bearings, to be fitted to the rods which you have.
