1293 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.7/MH.{M. Huckerby} 12th. October 1937. Gordon Armstrong Esq., Waltham Works, Beverley, Yorks. Dear Mr. Armstrong, We are despatching to-day the first pair of damper casings FB.3095/6. There are produced in R.R.50. The others will be in R.R.53.C. We are also despatching 15 coupling flanges FB.3094. We are issuing an order to you for a pair of dampers to SCD.132, these require levers EXS.23 and EXS.33. As the other parts for this test are now complete we shall be glad to receive the dampers. The levers should be despatched to you to-day. I think your latest replenishing valve should be an improvement, but the real cause of the trouble appears to be due to the very short spring which can easily exert a force pushing the ball away from the seat. It looks as if a new piston allowing a longer valve spring would be an advantage. I am hoping to be at the Motor Show on Monday. Yours sincerely, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
