1293 RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.3/WH. 12th. October 1937. Messrs. Armstrong's Patents Co. Ltd., Eastgate, Beverley, Yorks. For the attention of Mr. BOGG. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of the 7th. instant, showing the difficulty you are having in obtaining R.R.53.C alloy. We think you have no need for alarm in using R.R.53.C even if Birmals have never used it. It is definitely easier to cast than P.2. R.R.53.C is easier to cast than R.R.50. It would appear that Birmals are expecting it to be similar to R.R.53 which is a little difficult to cast. We should advise you to get the material from some other source if Birmals are not interested, because R.R.53.C is a far stronger and more reliable alloy than P.2 alloy. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
