for R.{Sir Henry Royce} To C.J. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4226 E2/M28.4.22. GOSHAWK 11. VALVE ROCKERS. X.4226. In connection with dealing with the flats which form on the rollers of the Goshawk 11 valve rockers, we would like to suggest that a larger roller should be tried. We have made a scheme shewing a .625 diameter roller instead of ½". The sides of the roller are cut away for the purpose of lightening, similar to the tappet rollers. We propose if you approve, to make some of these and try them both on an engine and possibly on a valve gear rig, the latter being a good means of testing any portion of the valve gear quickly.
