Spencer. ------------------------- With reference to your memos Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}5/NJ13.2.23 and Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}1/WJ20.2.23 - the only decision that has been arrived at in regard to these batteries is that contained in EFC's report reference EFC1/T5.1.23. We understand from you that this information has been communicated to the Chloride Company, and it is for them to inform the Clyde Automobile Co. accordingly, as the whole complaint in this instance has been dealt with between Mr. Spencer, The Clyde Automobile Co. and the Chloride Co. It would appear from your memos above referred to that the Clyde Automobile Co. have not yet heard from the Chloride Co. of Mr. Clarke's decision, as given in his memo EFC1/T5.1.23. The only communication which we (Rolls-Royce) have had on this matter is from the Chloride Co. Is it their wish that we should now communicate with the Clyde Automobile Co., and if so, will you please arrange for Mr. Pope to write them accordingly on the lines of EFC's report EFC1/T5.1.23. We cannot quite understand why this Department is looked upon as being the Department to deal further with this matter, as from a Technical point of view, the matter was completed by EFC's report above referred to.
