With reference to the heel board on the cars, I notice that since we have used the indiarubber pedal, the foot is apt to get caught in the grooves cut in the heel board, when releasing the clutch. These grooves in the heel board had better be cancelled at once. This is a point I wrote about a week ago, but I was not quite sure in what way the heel board was wrong.

Referring to 7CA, the engine on this car must have considerably higher compression than on 58NA{Mr Nadin}, and this must be the cause of 7CA being so much more lively. I feel certain that this higher compression will materially reduce the consumption, and it was noted with reference to 58NA{Mr Nadin} that it was always an extravagant car for petrol. I should be glad to know what the difference in compression is, as read by the gauge and the HP of both engines. The oil in 58NA{Mr Nadin} is also too thick.

The engine is also very free after it has warmed up.
