Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Y8770 X 3196 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG4.2.27. The type test has not yet started. We have had trouble with the metering and distribution. We think we have now got this sufficiently good to run the power curve off this afternoon, and if all goes well we shall start the type test on Monday. The DH.{D. Henderson - Showroom} engine will leave with Gibson on Monday. We attach a report from ACL. on the Wizard and Vickers which you will see is very encouraging. The P.W. chassis is ready to leave for Parkers tomorrow morning. We are quite satisfied with it except for pick up vibrations. These are rather worse than GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}'s car but it is difficult to judge until we get the body on. We have tried the rubber engine mounting on the trials car. When we fitted it up with the 40/50 rubbers and spring plates we found the suspension was far too rigid. We put soft xx rubbers and flexible plates in and the result is a very marked improvement; torque reaction seems better instead of worse. The Barkerlite body however is xx the worst I have ever tried for booming and generally acting as a sound box. Though the vibrations left are negligible on the indirect gears the whole body drums terribly. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} seems very delighted with the Barker body which he states has none of the faults of the Hooper job. contd:- | ||
