| 250 E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/MN.10.11.36. To EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Copy to Ds. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Eft. F.J. HARDY Side Steering Tube - Bentley III. We have already sent you N.Sch.4920 showing an adjustable forward end to the Bentley III side steering tube used in conjunction with a butted tube. We have since learnt that these butted tubes may prove to be very expensive to obtain, and therefore send to you LeC.5349 showing a means of obtaining the threaded end with a plain tube, by a forging pinned and brazed to its end. We suggest that this is the scheme which could be worked to unless we subsequently discover that butted tube can be obtained at a price which is reasonable.
