5 The Lagonda owner is a doctor. The possible 100 mph. doesn't interest him. Neither does the regrettable total car wt 40 cwt. The consumption 10/12 mpg, disgusts him. So does the sticky gear change - the very-ordinary gear lever. He would prefer lighter & higher geared steering (more like your Bentley) & has an instinctive distrust of hydraulic brakes. The Lagonda's lack of urge below 2000 revs. doesn't bother him, as the 12-cyl can move quietly & smoothly at 8 mph on its 4.44 top. Driving position & visibility enchant him, as does the springing, front & rear. Yet even now, after 65,000 stop & start miles, the Lagonda will reach its 90 mph in under 20 secs & has no perceptible vibration up to 5000 revs - either under violent & sudden load, or on the over run.
