To HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} 84057 Hotel de France, CHATEAUROUX, Indre, France, 3.2.33 3 PER. 11. We have received your memo HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KT.31.1.33. We note your remarks with regard to cooling of the engine oil, and we shall carry out these tests as soon as possible. This week a lot of time has been lost with the men only arriving on tuesday midday and our work carried out with the engine base. We have obtained some very interesting data with regard to the oil engine base, the report of which we sent you yesterday. This morning we again tried the car fitted up as stated in our report. The results are not quite up to expectations, but considerable improvement has been made. We find that the height of the weirs will still have to be increased further to prevent the oil swishing over. Our tests however show that we have made considerable improvement with regard to loss of oil pressure when braking. This did not drop below the pressure of the engine speed, i.e., it never dropped below thirty pounds per square inch; previously it went to zero. We are running some mileage this afternoon so that a report can be sent, otherwise you will think that we are not getting on with the car as it should be. We shall again attack the base in a day or two, when we have completed some mileage. We have received the mouldings for the radiator which will be fitted in due course. G.W.H. | ||
