Referring to the question of cycle type wings which appear to be wanted by one or two people like Fedden and probably Fairey, who, I understand from Lp.{Mr Lappin}, has fallen in love with the 100 m.p.h. speed model, I said to Lp{Mr Lappin} that, as it means special pivots and as the fracture of one of these pixots [text struck through] wings would perhaps involve a very serious accident, I feel diffident about giving authority [text struck through] for them to be fitted unless they have been submitted to a 10,000 mile test.

I understand from him that you will submit them to a bumper test which is considered even more severe, and presume this includes the wings as well as the pivots.
