Four nuts and all the springs and felt that Derby suggest seems too much for this purpose.
We must get down to the simplest that will achieve the object. One would imagine that if you have felt or cork you do not want springs and four studs. If you have many studs and spring washers you might do away with the cork.
All this cannot be needed to retain the oil, and fumes should be drawn into carb. It must be centred on noise.
My own impression is that there is an easier way of doing it, perhaps by local pieces of cork or felt, and the 3 studs E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} suggests would be simpler, lighter, cost less, and be silent unless we must make it air-tight for silence - (this could be tested). But what would happen if we doubled everything in the same way.
Our own lo-EX valve gear etc. is extremely quiet.
