X1166 DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION No. YOUR REF: OUR REF: FRC/DW 6. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. 20th June 1935. For the attention of Mr.Bowering. Dear Sirs, New type Jack for Bentley Chasses. With reference to the sample Jack returned on Tuesday, we are concerned at the fact that the stop on the inner screw has again failed. The stop in question is made of silver steel and we should not have thought it would have given out in the ordinary course of testing. Possibly it was definitely rung off to see how much it could stand, and we would like your comments on this point, as if it failed under ordinary test conditions it suggests that some drastic alteration is desired and we are presented with a problem which will be very difficult to solve. Can you also give us some indication as to how the guide slot in the body became chipped? Actually it is chipped from outside in whereas any pressure of the ram would have caused the chip from inside out. We are sending you herewith a new pinion fitted with a shorter spring clip, which we have assumed will be satisfactory. Yours faithfully, FOR DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD., Frank P Carr Sales Manager - Accessories. | ||
