1-Goshawk-11 - and - 3.EX Car. V4219 / X8408 Y1692

We have heard from R.{Sir Henry Royce} that he wishes G.1. to be sent to WW. and that you will be sending instructions as regards the special parts you wish fitted to G.1. and 3.EX Cars. We recommend that G1. is fitted with a Goshawk-11 type Battery Ignition. At present we are running this car with the R-R aero type battery ignition.

The worst feature on G.1. is the difficulty of arranging satisfactory induction system and carburetter. There was never any carburetter designed for this engine. We had an N.sch. showing an old type 40/50 carburetter. This arrangement did not work satisfactorily. We are proposing to fit a Goshawk-11 carburetter. If you have any suggestions in the manner it should be fitted we should be very pleased to hear from you. It is very difficult on this car to arrange a satisfactory position for the carburetter owing to the steering box, controls and engine bearer tube.

Goshawk-1 car is fitted with thick leaf cantilever springs. We recommend that a pair of Hartford Shock Absorbers are fitted otherwise you may get a wrong impression of the rear axle control, for instance, on G.1. it is possible to get the car jaggering when the brake is hard on, but on the Marmon car which has a similar ee axle control, we have found it impossible on there with hard cord tyres and brakes adjusted so that the wheels were locked
