S/W.....Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} +4995 C13/C5.3.35 Re Use of Thin Oil (Bentley Instruction Book). I have seen the first paragraph of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}10/KW27.2.35 on 21-G-IV. This is, of course, rather alarming in view of the fact that we have circulated owners advising them to use thin oil. You will remember that we had some correspondence on this matter in December and January last, when we expressed doubt as to the advisability of recommending the thin oil - see C2/C27.12.34; and again suggesting that we should not circularise people on the matter in C15/C8.1.35. I feel sure you would not have advocated circularising customers on this point had the present report been before you. Will you please let me know what you think we should do now - that is to say, do you think we ought to withdraw the circular and remove the slips from the instruction books? C. | ||
