RE BOX OF SPLIT PINS ETC. FOR WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town.

X.20448

RECEIVED 11 JUL 1919

In accordance with Mr. Royce's instructions, would you kindly send us a box of assorted split pins for use at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town.

We have had a trial of the security bolt tyre lever which you kindly sent to us, but we do not find that it facilitates very much the operation of inserting the security bolt. The way in which we have used it is to have one complete bead of the cover disengaged, and to pull this back locally by means of the special tool wherever it is desirable to insert the security bolt. Unfortunately the leverage on the tool is so very small that it requires one man to operate it while another inserts the security bolt.

Would you kindly send us two so called "fitter's stops" advertised by the Dunlop Company in their catalogue. These stops clip on to the rim at any desired point, and prevent the bead of the tyre rolling off due to tension of the operations on another part of the rim. The advertised price, I believe, is 4d. each.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
