PHANTOM - CENTRALISED CHASSIS LUBRICATION.

We send herewith N. sch. 2471. shewing, as we mentioned on N. sch. 2467., a re-arrangement of the coil pipe to the torque sphere to provide for the stationary pipe coming in from the opposite sides, this seeming to simplify the piping on the general scheme.

We have taken the opportunity to increase the number of coils to reduce the stress on the maximum movements of the back axle. This is about 50,000 as originally designed, and we think possibly is rather on the high side for brass piping.

It is also desirable to add a snout to the end of the pipe projecting into the collecting ring on the universal joint, to make sure that oil drops in there, and does not run back along the pipe. If it can be spun out of the hard drawn brass tube this would be the best way to make it. If not, we suggest that it should be put on as a separate piece as shewn.
