Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} [Handwritten] 48290 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG14.6.26. UNDERSHIELD - GROUND CLEARANCE. [Handwritten] X8280 / X615 During our last visit to WW., R.{Sir Henry Royce} complained that the undershields on our cars generally were lower than necessary. He pointed out that they have [handwritten above: take great pains] when designing, to keep the ground clearance the necessary height, but frequently, when the undershields are fitted, this point is lost sight of. We recommend that every chassis should be passed for ground clearance - this could very easily be carried out during the spring test. It would mean that a gauge would be provided which would pass right under the car with the normal deflection on the springs. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
