X9290 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY/7/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 17.2.26. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I ENGINE. RE FITTING BETWEEN THE FRONT END OF THE GEAR BOX UNDERSHIELD AND THE BOTTOM HALF CRANKCASE. I am under the impression that you are proposing to standardize one of the schemes fitting felt in at this point in the near future. The reason I am raising this is that the Works are apparently hand working the angle which is rivetted to the undershield with the object of reducing the space between the bottom half crankcase and the undershield itself. This of course is entirely wrong, and we cannot hope to make fits between two metal parts, and undoubtedly the only way out of the trouble would be to have a felt piece to fit in the space. We would like to know whether you have standardized anything in this line, and if so, which of the designs. [STAMP: FEB 17 1926] BY.{R.W.
