-3- DYNAMO. The condition of the dynamo at the finish of the mileage is not very good. The commutator shows signs of burning and gives the impression of a fault in the armature circuit. It has not failed to charge during the latter portion of the mileage. SIDE SPARE WHEEL CARRIERS. The spare wheels at either side have rode steadier after replacing the broken bolts. 5/16" bolts have been replaced by 3/8", the reason being that it has been thought the bending action was the cause of the heads of the bolts breaking. CROSS STEERING TUBE. The friction load of the cross steering tube had remained fairly consistent, load set to 155 in.lbs. At the finish it was 144 in.lbs. The spherical seatings of the contacts were in a very good condition and had been well lubricated. SIDE STEERING TUBE. The contacts and lubrication were good. The friction load set at 25 in.lbs. had dropped to 15 in.lbs. FRONT BRAKE DRUMS. The surfaces of the drums have been smoothed out during the remaining mileage. The N.S. still retains a groove but no metal has been picked up by the shoes. The O.S., the ridges have almost been smoothed out and would not be considered abnormal. No metal has been picked up by the shoes since our previous report. The brakes have been taken up 2 notches of adjustment during the mileage. REAR BRAKE DRUMS. The rear brake drum surfaces were still in a very good condition at the finish of the mileage. The O.S. drum became damaged, a piece being broken out up to the first rib, by the D.W.S. Jack when same was knocked off. The brake shoes are in a very good condition and show little signs of wear. One notch of adjustment has been taken up during the mileage. | ||
