ROY. {Sir Henry Royce} c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /TWD {T. W. D???Aeith} XH4400 BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /Ugh12/G.4.6.29. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 20 HP. CHASSIS - ENOTS LUBRICATORS. FRONT & REAR AXLES. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- According to our present instructions we are using on the front axle a combined Enots adaptor and filter, which is made up of the piece as shown on G.53667, which we believe we make in our own Works, and piece G.53668 which Messrs. Benton & Stone will be producing for us. On the rear axles we have instructed G.77018 which is a special form of Enots fitting, which is to be used in conjunction with a Banjo connection. The proposal now is that on the front axles we should use a non-return valve type of Enots lubricator combined with the oil filter, as shown on G.L. 328 herewith, and a combined non-return valve type lubricator with oil filter with special long shank on the rear axles, in order that it may be used in conjunction with a Banjo connection as shown on GL. {G. Linnett} 329. We understand that the Experimental Department have already been in communication with Messrs. Benton & Stone, and the latter people have submitted a design, but we do not agree with what they propose, as the fittings can be made much neater and more compact, as shown on the above drawings. We also send you herewith print G.53803 showing the piece which forms the lower portion of the unit on GL. {G. Linnett} 329 which forms the filter housing and contains the non-return valve. This piece is to be used in conjunction with G.53668. Blueprint G.53802 which we also hand you herewith shows the piece which forms the lower portion of the fitting for the front axle, as shown on GL. {G. Linnett} 328, and is also to be used in conjunction with G.53668. Will you please take the matter up with Messrs. Benton & Stone with a view to obtaining supplies for our 20 HP. chassis from 51 in 'O' series onwards. As the Works have already completed a number of these chassis, it is very important that we receive say two dozen of these fittings in the least possible time. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /Cgh. {W Clough} | ||
