X. 2918 To EFC. from Oy. c. to LH.{Mr Haworth} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for Mr. Ellis Oy1/B15.6.17. RE MAGNETO EXPERIMENTS - X. 2823 X. 2918. I cannot understand why the contact breaker should not have been ready for 7 C.A, as Mr. Ellis had precise instructions as to what was needed before I left, that is, before 6.6.17, or 9 days ago. Not only this, but the right hand contact breaker bodies were coming through, although they were not yet machined. All that was requisite was to transfer the existing contact breaker pieces to the right hand contact breaker body, and put through the cam. This cam had already been made once, but had been scrapped in the grinding shop, and a substitute was being rushedthrough to replace it. All this was distinctly understood by Mr. Ellis at the time and I also spoke of the matter to yourself and Mr. Hives. If thecontact breaker is not ready in time for 7 C.A. please send it down here and we will put it on 49 G.B. Of course it is not a real test of the contact breaker to run it at the slow speeds used on the car, but why we require it is simply so that Mr. Royce can see it functioning, and can criticise it or make suggestions as to its improvement.
