IT SHOULD BE APPRECIATED THAT THIS CONTROL APPLIED TO AN R.R. HOR. CARB. WILL BE SMALLER AND NEATER THAN THE ABOVE. Graph: - Y-Axis: TEMPERATURE °C - X-Axis: VAPOUR PRESSURE LBS/SQ ABS - FOR THE PURPOSE OF TESTING OUT THIS SCHEME OF AUTOMATIC STARTING AND WARMING UP CONTROL AN S.U. CARB. CAN BE USED MODIFIED AS SHOWN AND SHOULD BE FITTED TO A CAR WITH AN THERMOSTATICALLY CONTROLLED BYE-PASS WATER SYSTEM. THE POCKET AND BELLOWS SHOULD BE PARTLY FILLED WITH ETHYL ALCOHOL AND ALL AIR BOILED OUT BEFORE SEALING. THE BELLOWS WILL THEN CONTAIN ONLY LIQUID AND VAPOUR ETHYL ALCOHOL AND THE PRESSURE INSIDE WILL VARY WITH TEMPERATURE ACCORDING TO THE ABOVE CURVE. THE BELLOWS ARE THEIR NORMAL LENGTH IN THE POSITION SHOWN WHICH CORRESPONDS TO A TEMP. OF 75°C. AT A TEMP OF 15°C THE BELLOWS WILL HAVE CONTRACTED APPROX .175".
