Concave Lighting for Instruments. Would you please let me know if you are investigating this excellent scheme for Bentley instruments also ? We think it could be introduced with advantage. The present system of lighting on the Bentley instruments has the effect of giving prominence to any flaws in the glasses covering the clock and speedometer. A number of these glasses have bubbles in them, which give the present of it being cheap glass. These bubbles become peculiarly illuminated with the present scheme, and therefore are rather visible. Whilst we have the present scheme in operation could you ask Smiths to elect the glasses with more care so as to get them free from these blemishes. We have a double difficulty here, firstly, the bubbles, and secondly, dust getting under the glasses, and we should like to be able to remove both these objections as soon as possible.
