PHANTOM II. & L.H. PHANTOM II. CHASSIS.

LEVEL OF OIL RAISED IN FRONT HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPER. ALSO MODIFIED FIXING BOLT FOR DAMPER IN FRAME. SEC:7160.

In accordance with memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/MJ22.10.30, please receive herewith one Blue Print of drawing.-
F.83036 Filler Tube. 2 off, which replaces F.79403.

Will you please instruct up the above part for use on both Phantom II. and L.H.Phantom II.Chassis fitted with the revised system of central oiling on Dampers, as standardised for Series "N2".

The Vent Hole in Plug, to suit this arrangement is already instructed.

We have also modified the existing drawing F.79403, as requested in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/MJ.22.10.30, making the oil level .750 higher for chassis prior to Series "N2" under Altn: No: 12920/F.{Mr Friese}

The new Filler Tube F.83036 gives an increase in height of oil level of 1.250, and we are instructing this for Production on Series "N2".

Regarding the alteration to the fixing bolts for Damper, a complaint has been received from Paris per memo Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}21/VA/RJ.15.10.30, re these bolts loosening. In order to overcome this we have added a Plain Washer under the Nut and also substituted a Plain Nut for the Lock Nut as follows.-

F.76123 Bolt (Damper to Frame). 8 off, which replaces F.80472.
K.{Mr Kilner} 4010 Nut ( " " " ): 8 " " K.{Mr Kilner} 4316.
K.{Mr Kilner} 4413 Washer( " " " ): 8 " ADDITIONAL.

This ensures that the plain portion of the Bolt diameter, always extends through the Chassis Frame.
