X 832 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} S/KT. March 2nd 1933. Messrs Luvax Limited, Warple Way, Acton, London. W.3. For the attention of Mr. P. Douglas. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your reports of the 23rd and 17th Feb. respectively, concerning your shock absorbers. We think that the results you have obtained are very good. The spring in the levers is less than we expected, though more than we consider desirable. We are now going to endeavour to arrange for a set of these shock absorbers to be fitted to one of our cars. We do not know whether you would consider stiffening up the shaft and the serrations for the lever fixing before you supply us with a set of dampers, because there is no doubt that we may want to go up to as much as 300 lbs. as this is the load which we attain on our own existing shock absorbers. If you consider that the RM. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} P type shock absorber is definitely unsuitable for such high loads, we should like to have your recommendations as to what you would prefer us to try. One other feature is that we should be intensely interested to see indicator diagrams of one of your shock absorbers after it has done an equivalent to 10,000 miles on the road, because the results which we obtained on the one we tested after a certain amount of endurance running were not altogether satisfactory. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
