| 8261. To "Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}" Derby Showrooms Sr9/MLG.8.12.33 Further to my memo of yesterday's date, I am now in a position to give you definite information with regard to your proposed Montlery test. Mr. Pérouse consulted, suggests that first of all you should carry out an unofficial test controlled by their official timing expert Mr. Fouroux. If you are satisfied with the results obtained you could then apply in writing to the Automobile Club de France for the use of an official timekeeper who again would be Mr. Fouroux to officiate the performance of the Bentley. The position is as follows :- If you apply for an official timing record of your performance at Montlery, they cannot but record this performance good or bad in their books and will have to publish same in their monthly bulletin or whatever bulletin they publish. I think therefore Mr. Pérouse's idea is excellent, i.e. he will place at our disposal Mr. Fouroux, who will unofficially time out over the kilometre and lap, and should the result be as required we will immediately apply officially and the next day carry out a second test which on this occasion will be officially recorded. The course is not to be closed, every facility will be accorded you for this trial and the cost will not be more than Fcs.50,-. Trusting I have made myself clear and answered your questions comprehensively, Cheerio "Sr" PS: We are attaching herewith copy of an article which appeared in yesterday's edition of the Auto. This article is a forerunner of other articles and we consider it to be of great interest as Mr. Faroux is apparently taking the Bentley as a standard. "Sr" | ||
