TO [REDACTED] FROM EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} EVI/12.12.31. COPY TO [REDACTED] IS. [REDACTED] LONGER BONNET. P2. x7-60, We send herewith N.Sch.3392. shewing a bonnet for P2. which is 6.000 ins. longer than standard. This is the maximum amount we believe to be possible without undue widening in the plan view and so flattening the bonnet top, or else by not so doing spoiling the scuttle of the "O" Steering Pullman. If so desired, on "E" & "F" Columns, one could produce a still more enhanced appearance by the use of a bonnet 9.000ins. longer than standard. It is a question whether we can tolerate the increased cost of two standards. The longer bonnet would be set out merely by extending that on N.Sch.33.2. The design as drawn is for the present type of hinge but it is equally applicable to the rivetless variety. We suggest that Sales consider the suggestion of bringing through a stock body with such a bonnet. Derby have a solution for steadying the side wheel carrier on P.2. without the use of the external stay. Will Derby please send a print of this scheme to CX.{Major Len W.
