RECEIVED MAR 11 1927 Re: Chassis No. 103-MC. You will have received a note from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} with regard to the above car. The car itself is leaving here this morning for Derby and will be handed over to you. This car is most urgently wanted in the very best possible condition so as to create the very best possible impression for a particular duty in about a weeks time. The 6.75" tyres have just been fitted and we find it impossible to balance the wheels. I am informed that the hubs themselves are seriously out of balance, but no doubt you will investigate this matter for yourself. At all events, the effect is that a front wheel wobble tends to be set up at 72 m.p.h. on every occasion. At the same time it is specially desired that all the new throttle parts should be fitted so as to make the operation of the throttle by the governor control as effective as possible. The engine too appears to have developed a slight roughness on pick up from slow speeds at full torque, particularly round about 18 to 23 m.p.h. Anything you can do to improve this and to tune up the engine so as to give its very best performance will be very valuable and greatly appreciated. Please see that the greatest care is taken to prevent any damage to the paintwork as it will be impossible to spare the time to have any attention given to this after you have finished. I should be glad to have a note from you on Monday or Tuesday advising what progress has been made and, if possible, on what date we may anticipate return. CWB. | ||
