1620 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}9/JH. 14th June, 1937. The Hoyt Metal Co.Ltd., Putney, London.S.W.15. Dear Sirs, Our tests have proved that your Z.3 whitemetal shows some advantage over our standard whitemetal and if asked for figures we would say 10% This improved performance is out of all proportion to the increase in cost if the figure given to me are correct and as follows. Z.3 4s. 5½d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}/lb. as charged for the 1 cwt. of material obtained from you some time ago. Standard RR whitemetal 2s.6d./lb. You will realise that from the above, standardisation of your Z3 metal for our bearings is out of the question unless you could approach our figure. We should be pleased to hear from you on the above subject with regard to what your minimum quotations of Z3 would be if bought in bulk quantities. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
