X1276 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/KT. March 16th 1933. The Power Flexible Tubing Co. Ltd., Derby Works, Finsbury Park, London, N.4. Dear Sirs, We beg to acknowledge with thanks your letters of the 15th inst. With regard to flexible tubing for exhaust pipes, we require this in connection with flexibly mounted car power units. The car engine is allowed a certain amount of restrained movement in the chassis, and it becomes necessary either to mount the whole of the exhaust system flexibly or to introduce a section of flexible piping in the exhaust system between the exhaust manifold and the main silencer. The flexible pipe must be capable, therefore, of standing up to continuous flexing of no very great amplitude, and at the same time, must be capable of withstanding considerable heat without in any way leaking. It appears that either your Tuboflex or the special type steel welded seamless flexible tubing would be suitable for the job. We would like you to send us lengths of whichever of the two types you think most suitable as enumerated below, in order that we may test these out experimentally. 4 lengths - 15" long - internal diam. 1.875" (or if not available 2.00") 2 lengths - 15" long - internal diam. 2.00" 2 lengths - 15" long - internal diam. 3.00" cont'd | ||
