'SS{S. Smith}' CARS.
Handwritten: X7380 X7770 X1698

Since we sent 21-EX car to Sales we have been able to affect definite improvements to the SS.{S. Smith} cars at Derby by giving attention to the detail mounting of the subframe. By this means we have been able to reduce the resonance in the body to a considerably extent. We are still however not satisfied with the amount of noise and fume which can be heard in the driving seat - in this respect we think we might be are worse than the Phantom and are now giving our attention to/ this.

By the end of this week we hope to have two SS.{S. Smith} cars which will represent the standard we might expect from production.

We propose carrying out comparative tests with these cars against a standard Phantom Trials car - if they are then considered unsatisfactory, we propose bringing the Phantom and SS.{S. Smith} cars to WW. so that we can go over the various points with you.

We should like Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} to arrange a meeting place for the cars on Monday the 8th., and if necessary we could be at WW. on Tuesday the 9th.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
