BJ9/H18.5.23. My dear R.{Sir Henry Royce}, Sir Eric Geddes is now Chairman of the Dunlop Company, and he has had some little troubles with his old 40/50 h.p. Rolls-Royce, although we seem now to have overcome these and all is peace. He has recently visited America in connection with the American Dunlop Company, and as a matter of policy purchased a Pierce-Arrow car. He very kindly suggested that we might like to try this for a day or two, and we think it would be a good policy to accept his kindness. We have arranged to lend him one of our cars whilst we have the Pierce-Arrow. I enclose a letter which Sir Eric has written to Mr. Hanbury on the matter which I think will interest you to look through. Will you kindly let me know whether you would like to try this car soon after the holidays, as we promised to let Sir Eric know by the middle of next week on what days we should like to borrow the Pierce-Arrow car. Would you like Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to drive it down to Chichester? If so, we will arrange accordingly. If you do not care to see or try the Pierce-Arrow, we could of course arrange for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} or someone to try it without it going to Chichester. Will you kindly return the enclosed letter to me with your reply? It will be quite satisfactory if your reply reaches me next Wednesday. Yours ever, H.BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} | ||
