Dear Sirs,
Re. Electric Petrol Gauge.

With reference to your letter of the 15th.inst., we are sending you herewith a blu-print of an 18 gallon petrol tank, for which we should like you to supply an electric petrol gauge. We regret that at the moment we have not a tank available for graduation purposes, but if you find it difficult to calibrate the dial without a tank, we suggest you send the unit to us with a blank dial. We could then return it to you with a sketch of the dial markings we require.

With reference to our conversation with Mr. Russell at the Motor Exhibition last Friday, we are still interested in the possibility of a complete circular dial scale to match the black dial Cambridge thermometer. In the meantime we shall expect the new gauge with a similar dial to that previously supplied. We are sending under separate cover an ammeter, which perhaps you would like to match. This instrument has a larger dial, which enables a large scale range. It would be an advantage if you could convert your dial to this size.

Owing to a change in petrol tank being made to the car, we intend to carry out a through road test with your instrument. We should like to point out that in order to make the test possible on this car it will be necessary for us to have this new gauge at the very earliest date otherwise it will necessitate considerable delay before we can give any definite results.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
