To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from HDY.{William Hardy} SECRET. HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.18.6.35.

c.Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}E.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SpectreCodename for Phantom III Gearbox.
Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}

Will you kindly reduce the strength of the gear lever centralising spring G.81795 from 3½ lbs at 7.7" (which is what we make the length in neutral working from the detail drawings) to 2¾ lbs at the same length.

We consider that this reduction can be made as according to our measurements with a spring balance this spring is stronger on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III than on the Phantom or 20/25.
