R.R. 235A (50 T) (S H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 986, 19-2-21) G 3008 ORIGINAL To R.A & K.{Mr Kilner} from EFC. c. CJ. & PN.{Mr Northey} c. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} & Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} & EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} EFC?/T9.4.21. X.4349 - NEW TYPE LUCAS CUT-OUT WITH COMPOUND MAGNETIC CIRCUIT. When Mr. Breedon of the Lucas Elec. Company visited us the other day, as reported in Mr. Whitehead's note WDB/MJ8421, he brought with him a model (set up for bench test on an ebonite base with terminals) of an electrical cut-out which his Company has developed and for which they have applied for a patent, and left this model cut-out with us for test. Diagrammatically the instrument is as follows :- Approx full size. D+ D- B+ It will be seen that the connections are similar to those of an ordinary cut-out except that what we call a "long shunt" is utilised (this implying that the actuating shunt current traverses the series turns) in place of the more ordinary "short shunt" in which the shunt coil is directly across the dynamo.
