1328 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.6/MH.{M. Huckerby} 14th. September 1938. The British Thermostat Co. Ltd., Teddington Works, Windmill Road, Sunbury-on-Thames, MIDDX. For the attention of Mr.Martin-Hurst. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 12th. inst. confirming your telephone conversation with the writer re thermostats to EB.3509. With regard to your request for discontinuation of the practice of pinning the spindle in the end of the bellows plate, we do not see at the moment quite how this can be dispensed with, as the spindle has to be positively locked. We do not see, however, why the difficulty you mention should arise if you finally pin the spindle as the last operation - that is to say, after checking setting and final inspection. The operation of pinning the spindle should not in any way effect the setting of the unit, and therefore, presumably could be done at this stage. We would like to have your comments on this. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
