Wraith Crankcase - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}

Total No.of Holes = 99
Total No.of Tool Changes = 20

It will be observed that when drilling the Wraith crankcase the tools are changed twice as many times on Bentley., which is the principal reason for the 100% increase in operating time.

Apart from the increase in manufacturing times the cost of tools is increased in a like manner since the quantities are doubled, and tool maintenance charges will naturally rise in proportion.

The above reveals the urgent necessity for general simplification of design, and gives some impression of the benefits both direct and indirect to be anticipated from standardisation.
