Re: STEERING ROLLER FAILURES.

(RmI/R.4.4.39 and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}1/R.3.4.39)

Many thanks for the copies of your memos, which I have read with great interest.

I am very pleased to learn that supplies of 100% reliable rollers will be available immediately after Easter. As soon as they are ready, I suggest that they be sent to us in batches of 3, and by air mail. Please do not omit to send corresponding supplies of FW.1486 bolts and FW.1487 nuts.

We received from LA.{L. A. Archer}, yesterday afternoon, the two Bentley steering boxes which we sent to you for examination and repairs. They have been returned fitted with new rollers etc.. We also received 3 new (tested) rollers and bolts and nuts.

We have to-day fitted new rollers to the following chassis:

WXA.11 - Paris Trials Car.
WXA.15 - Dubonnet.
WXA.72 - Gourielli.

We are fitting one of the reconditioned boxes to the steering of B.6.MR (Trials Car) and one will be fitted to B.52.MR (F.{Mr Friese} Louis-Dreyfus). We have already mapped out a program re other chassis and now await the arrival of the parts. We will keep the Works advised in the usual way, as we attend to cars.
