Brake shoe testing to prevent 'jaggers' by modifying the Ferodo lining.

We had anticipated from the theories put forward for jaggers that with only 4" on the front end of the wrapping shoe we should get locking when the brakes were applied. There was no braking. We are now carrying out a test by gradually removing the ferodo from the heel end of the shoe. The following is a list of experiments which have been carried out in connection with jaggers. (over). We have now completed our tests of removing the Ferodo from the heel and of the wrapping shoe - we find when we have removed 5" jaggers disappear. This test goes to prove that removing the Ferodo at either end of the shoes is equally effective as regards preventing jaggers.
