We have carried out investigations on the effect of oil shortage on the effeciency of the front dampers and can give you the following data. I). The O.S.F. damper becomes noisy and ineffective when it requires 3/4 syringe of oil to fill it. 2). It becomes more effective and the noise stops when full. 3). This damper had not been dismantled during the mileage. 4). The N.S.F. damper made a similar noise before the refill valve seats were refaced by AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} and FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} Our conclusions are that the effect of oil shortage increases with the leak from the working cylinders into the reservoir. As all the deliberate leak is now through the refill valves, we think that it is advisable to have as large a capacity for the reservoirs as is reasonably possible. Our present intention is to let the spare axle shafts come back with the car. If you want them before this, please let us know. ---------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M.
