404. To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/PD.1/JH.26.11.38. VISIT TO PARK WARD'S IN CONNECTION WITH THE MOUNTING OF 9.B.5. BODY. This body has gone on to the chassis very well indeed, there were only a few minor fouls, and these were caused by our people leaving the old exhaust system brackets in position. (1) The silent bloc mounting of the dashboard had broken away on one side where the brackets had been spot welded by our fitter, these were removed and a much stronger job made. (2) It was necessary to raise the steering column position, it not being correct to drawing. (3) It was found that the rear body brackets and step irons were 1.000" to far back, the body bottom sides were however drilled to suit. (4) The front apron PD.255 was nothing like the scheme, Park Wards will make and fit an apron to suit. (5) The body brackets in the rear wheel arches would not line up due to Park Ward not finishing the wheel arches in a curve, this will be corrected by making a pocket in the wheel arch. (6) The chassis was measured over the wheel arches and was found to be .300" narrow. (7) It was found that provision had been made on the body for the windscreen wiper to be carried on the off side. It was pointed out that we have now changed over to the near side, and that the alteration is on the drawing FCD.651 this will be attended to by Park Ward. Park Ward are now ready for the bonnet fitters to complete the bonnet, arrangements will be made accordingly. 9.B.5. Delivery date is given as the end of next week.
