Points for consideration and experiment on dynamo and other electrical equipment.

With reference to the dynamo and other electrical equipment, the following are some points for consideration and experiment.

(1) Will the heating and sparking be less with vibrator regulator?

(2) We understand that mechanical wear is .001 per 20,000 miles, and wear through sparking at 3000 RPM. also very small until brushes stick in holders.

(3) We have designed a new brush holder much more rigid and for double brushes, which we send herewith - Lec.1725.

(4) We have suggested trying softer and higher resistance carbons for brushes as used by Bosch and others.

(5) Is the failure of brushes always one particular brush - main or third?

(6) I have suggested we arrange dynamo so that it can be turned round in it's cradle for attending to brushes and commutator.

(7) If we use (6) and could do without third brush we should easily have room to true commutator with curved block and glass-paper.

(8) We now realise that there are two ways of using vibrator regulator - Bosch has combined both. What about patents? [Stamped text: RECEIVED]

(9) We notice that the connectors on the switchbox are of hard brass. Some parts ought to be annealed, or soft copper for folding round insulation and wires; boxes are formed thus -

Some of the questions I have asked before but do not remember having them answered.

With further reference to Lec.1725. we want a model of the brush-holder shown on this drawing sent to W. as soon as possible. The cast in plate should not present much difficulty as it has been made such a good job of by the Bosch people, whose model should be examined.
