Test results on a cast iron engine unit in a 29.G.VI car, comparing carburettor performance for slow running.

Cast iron unit in 29.G.VI. car.

We have now completed our tests on the cast iron engine unit No.B.60 No.2 fitted in 29.G.VI. car for best slow running results, using camshaft EB.4022.

We find that to obtain slow running and idling as good as the present Wraith production car, when using the single Stromberg carburetter, we have to use .015" tappet clearance on both inlet and exhaust valves.

When using twin S.U. carburetters with similar tappet clearances, we can obtain what we consider is quite good slow running for these carburetters, but not quite so good as the single Stromberg carb.

Sparking plugs Champion N.A.10 .030" Gap.
Coil RR. 21,000 turns. Distributor Delco.
